How did you start playing golf?

How did you start playing golf? and how would you advise someone to take up the game?

For me, it was my Dad that played years before I was born. His Grandad got him in to it by swinging broomsticks in the garden and that connection with the game transferred down to me. And I wouldn’t change a thing. Mum played because of Dad, I always had a set of clubs ready to go and play but it wasn’t until I was 12 or so that it was regularly a thing. Mum was Lady Captain at Wavendon Golf club and this granted her the use of a buggy which perked my interest. Never actually used it but I was hooked.

The way I would suggest to start would be to get down to Top Golf in Watford, Surrey or Chigwell for example. www.topgolf.com for detsils.

Get any curious non-golfers to go to one of these destinations, normally it’s a turn up and wait type deal but many have compared it to going bowling for those that have not played golf, ideal. Clubs are provided and cater for most. Longer clubs are for longer shots and shorter clubs for shorter shots.

PXG – Equipment Nerd

So after hunting for brands and products for me to have access to for retail and online, I’ve managed to become a stockist for PXG golf equipment. Now this is a brand that means business and have the tightest tolerances of manufacturing I’ve seen to date. Some may say that they are way too expensive but there is a wider stock profile nowadays that includes a few more price points. With the higher prices come more options to tailor it to what you need as an individual. But combine this brand with me, I can build a club to do what you need it to do and be considerate of the overall cost. Talk to me and see what we can accomplish for your golf bag.

Compared to the market…

Compared to other brands, there are some products in the spectrum that are quite expensive like the 0311 ST irons but all in all most of the line up such as the 0211 irons and the 0311 Gen 2 irons are available at what seems reasonable numbers for fantastically performing clubs.

www.pxg.com for full product portfolio

I will be pulling a few models like putters and wedges and building completely unique custom builds to see what they can look like and what responses come about on social media for example. The irons won’t be customised with heat as I’m not sure of how the internal materials react under those conditions. The solid material 0311 forged wedges will turn out to something very pure indeed.

www.instagram.com/holesalegolf will display these builds when they come about!

The longer term ambition is to set up a hitting studio or become attached to a golf club / facility to offer custom fitting one to one and see some ball flights and launch monitor numbers to give the very best service available. Until then, it’s golf porn on a screen and click to order.

Welcome to Hole Sale Golf. Owned and run by PGA Golf Professional Fredryck Meikle

With a wealth of knowledge in retail and club building, Fredz Golf sets up shop with http://www.HoleSaleGolf.co.uk

This is a brand new business venture and will take a while to build up so do stay tuned while it all pieces together!

This is an outlet of retail for products I have to sell to a range of golfing abilities and the whole idea is to help your golf and help you feel good on the golf course with useful tips and insights

Why do this?

  • Because I have a huge passion for this fantastic game and an ambitious journey to playing on the Seniors Tour in 2040. This is the drive behind the operation.
  • So many ideas at the moment, a 2nd Lockdown here in the UK will give me some time to work out all of the pieces of the puzzle;
  • Reshafts, regrips, rare products, new custom golf clubs, used custom golf clubs, clubs made to order, off the course attire, man cave artwork, youtube lessons, youtube tips, maybe golf books aimed at specific stages of development, buying and selling 2nd hand and acquiring new brands to build clubs with and sell products on here!

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal? I have learned a lot as a PGA Pro and have a huge amount more to learn and share
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about? Lots about clubs and products but there’s a lot more to it. Kids golf book ideas, YouTube series for learning. The more questions you ask, the more ammo for me to create content with
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog? Anyone that likes the unique nature of my offerings, information and overall approach
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished? More participation in golf as a sport and becoming a go-to place for all golf questions!

Stay tuned

Unlimited Potential

Everyone has the ability to set personal golfing goals and targets to get better at this game and enjoy it to the fullest. My approach is to focus on things that will help everyone get better. I see a lot of advise out there that doesn’t apply to every viewer watching, albeit good advise. I will focus on your thought processes, tools you can use on the course to better your own ability wherever that ability be to start with. What is the next area to work on for you?

  • Beginner/Junior – Club Golfer – Elite Club Golfer – Professional. 4 stages of development.
  • Talk to me about where you are, where you want to be and what you are doing to get there! I’d be happy to help and encourage the right moves.
  • Stay tuned for links to Instagram tips and YouTube videos to give you a boost on your journey
  • As a PGA Professional I have come across a few tricks and behaviours that lead to success, I like to add strings to the bow as opposed to tell you how to play your game.

Any areas you are struggling with, message me or get in touch and i’ll see what i can do to help.

This is a FREE service! It will help me create topics and content for blogs and videos so I would very much appreciate the help!
